I can't believe it has been a year since Amanda was born. It was a pretty stressful day. We had to drive to the hospital in a snow storm and the roads were pretty bad. Right after she was born I got stuck in the employee elevator at the new hospital which I don't recommend if you are claustraphobic. It has been a good year and a difficult year. Someone told me that having 3 kids is the same as having 4 because you are over your head with 3 one more does not make it any more difficult. This statement is not accurate. Having 3 kids is like treading water and having 4 kids is like treading water with someone standing on your head pushing you under.

Two weeks ago we went to Sidona's brother's daughter's birthday party. It was a double party featuring two one year old children. They set up each with a whole cake of their own to devour. The one little boy just picked daintily at the cake. Sidona's niece had a faceful of chocolate cake. Just like your photos. The contrast between the two was stagering.
I don't know what you are refering to with the water analogy. I can't relate. I will tell you this. When they are old enough to leave at home, life becomes worth living. To be able to pickup and go to Walmart without asking is wonderful.

Yes, kids are great, but it will be nice when they are more self sufficient.
